Layers and More Layers!

Layers Need to be Condensed

Layers are one of the best things about Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, but they are weighty.? Lots of layers means lots of bytes and those cause your files to… well… big and cumbersome… So after you are sure you don’t want to adjust a group of files, merge the layers together – select the ones you want to condense by clicking on the first one then holding shift and clicking on the rest, then press Control + E.

Lets say you want to merge all of the visible layers in your document, in that case, just press Control + Shift + E and they will all merge together on one layer.? This is the best thing to do when you are completely done and want to include the file in another file or send to friends/the printer/the world!

And my personal favorite… the four-fingered-miracle… When you land on a great combo of effects press Shift + Option + Control + E, and it will gather those layers onto a NEW layer, leaving the rest of the layers intact for you to continue to experiment with.

Have fun!
